The coldest weather of the week has passed, and now as the Hudson Valley enters the weekend, the situation is expected to pick up. After warming up, meteorologists said that by Saturday, the area may experience record high temperatures. A cold front will move from the west and is expected to pass through the Hudson Valley late Saturday afternoon. Will the Hudson Valley really experience thunderstorms in December?

Friday's high will be around 40 degrees, and it will be cloudy most of the time, and there may be sporadic showers later in the day. The overnight low will drop to more than 30 degrees, with opportunities for clouds and light rain. On Saturday, you may see the temperature climb to more than 60 degrees, there will be showers in the afternoon, and there may even be rumbling thunder. As the front advances, there will be gusts of wind in the Hudson Valley, as Saturday's low will drop to more than 30 degrees.

The cold weather will resume on Sunday because the wind will continue to be gusty and the maximum temperature will only be in the 40s. But the colder air will not stay for too long. The Weather Channel stated that the temperature in the coming week will remain above normal, and later this week, the temperature will reach more than 50 degrees again. Most extended forecasts require temperatures to remain above average for the remainder of the month.

So far, some of the expansion forecasts for the winter are somewhat contradictory. Although some people, such as the Old Farmer’s Yearbook, say that we should expect near-normal temperatures and precipitation, other forecasts require below-average temperatures and above-average snowfall. An important factor may be the return of La Niña. La Niña is a phenomenon that causes the temperature of the tropical Pacific Ocean near the equator to be lower than average. Do not confuse it with El Niño, which occurs when the water temperature in that part of the Pacific Ocean rises. The La Niña phenomenon in the past caused colder and more snowy winters throughout the northeast.
